The world just lost one of the best story tellers and humorists. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Steven Kenneth Reich, 77, of Cranston, the son of the late Gerald and Minna (Lerich) Reich, passed away on May 24, 2023, at Massachusetts General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth C. (Esquibel) Reich.
Having parents with wicked senses of humor, his jokes delivered in the true Jewish style could capture the most austere audiences. His curiosity was limitless. Having such broad interests manifested not only in becoming a fine woodworker, discerning stereophile, automobile enthusiast, and accomplished gardener and art collector, but a caring, gifted, and dedicated physician. His career in medicine mirrored his adventurousness in other segments of his life. He received his bachelor's degree in English from Grinnell College in Iowa, followed by graduate work in Psychology at the University of New Mexico where he earned his PhD. His career in Psychology began at Boston University and then at the Springfield Mental Health Center in Springfield, IL. Ultimately planning on becoming a psychiatrist, he began medical school in his 30s at Southern Illinois University and instead became a pediatrician. After residency he began clinical work in Colorado Springs, CO and then transitioned to Chief Medical Officer. His work as a Medical Director brought him to Poughkeepsie, New York. His career in medicine took a final turn when he joined the adolescent medicine team at Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. Career and hobbies were important to him but his devotion to family was a foremost priority as he was a loving husband, son, father, brother, and grandfather.
He is survived by his sister Dindy Reich (Lee Maril) of Greenville, NC., her children Molly and Jonah. He also leaves behind his children; Reuben (Carly) Reich of Bristol their children Liam and Brigitta, Samuel Reich of Fort Collins, CO and his children Jaya and Roan, Jeannette Kubik of Colorado Springs, CO and her children Brandi, David and Erik Mondragon of Colorado Springs, CO and his children Paige, Kaleb, Gavin, and Emerson.

We are so sad to hear of the passing of Dr Reich. Dr Reich took care of my boys from birth to the age they were too old to see him. They still only wanted to see him. Steven was caring, loving, calming and so kind. The world just lost a great man. We are so blessed to have known him. RIP

Steve and Liz were our best friends. I love them both dearly. They had so much to live for and now they are together still.
