STEVEN HENRY WOODS
January 18, 1969 May 3, 2023
Steven Henry Woods, 54, passed away peacefully in the early hours of May 3, 2023 at his family home in Green Mountain Falls, CO. He was born Jan 18, 1969 to Alberta (Beal) Woods Loftlin and Maurice Lee Woods. Steve fondly recalled his childhood in Green Mtn Falls and particularly, time with his beloved grandparents Ira and Ruth (Stevens) Woods who moved from Oolagah, Oklahoma to Rampart Range during the 1930s. Ira Woods became a building contractor and many of the early homes from Woodland Park to Cascade were built by him, including the Woods family home in Green Mtn. Falls.
Community was synonymous with Steve, who often espoused how easy it was to just be nice to one another, and was offended by those who didn't wave as they passed by. For a number of years he served as a volunteer firefighter for Green Mountain Falls and kept their trucks in working order. More recently you could find him disguised as Santa at the annual Cascade Christmas Celebration. He always held a smile, welcoming arms and a hardy laugh, and quietly helped out so very many people without expectation or motivation.
From an early age Steve had an exceptional capacity to retain detailed information and was a wealth of knowledge and wisdom on so many fronts that he became the "go to" resource for many in the community. His generous nature found him ever active in the community, and you were hardpressed to find someone who didn't (yet) know Steve Woods.
He attended the local public schools and from an early age showed a passion toward all things mechanical. He became interested in cars and soon found himself working on high performance race cars including Pikes Peak open wheel cars, IndyCars, the American IndyCar series and the United States Speedway Series cars. He worked with several race teams, but primarily Loophole Racing, led by Bud and David Hoffpauir, as a crew member for drivers Clint Vahsholtz and Paul Dallenbach.
He is proceeded in death by his siblings Nancy Carter and John Woods, and survived by his 7 nieces and nephews: Elizabeth Carter, Kelli Carter, Destiny Carter, Adrian Carter, Kailyn Carter, Oryan Carter and Jayce Carter; numerous cousins; and countless friends.
Please join us for a joyous celebration of Steve's life on Saturday, May 20th from 1-3pm at the Sallie Bush Community Center (10795 Ute Pass Ave) in Green Mtn Falls where we can share stories and photos of this rare person who we will all miss. Potluck munchies will be available. His family can be contacted at P.O. Box 372 Green Mtn. Falls, CO 80819.

Precious and Gentle and Lovely Stevie... What a True Heart you had my Brother. I Loved the beautiful last conversation we had and always walked away feeling Joy after connecting with you. You easily shared your gentle and caring nature with all who were blessed to know you. You also gave me one final gift of getting to reconnect with two truly astounding ladies Kelly and Destiny once again and I felt honored to witness first hand the strength and Open Heartedness that will continue through both of these phenomenal women. What a proud life of Love Shared. I Love you Brother and am so happy for you. You deserve all things good.

Im sorry to hear of your passing my friend.
We meet in 6th grade and you were known as ( WOODS ). The times we had together throughout our school years was a great with many laughs!! Too many to list here. You will always be remembered my friend; not by just me but many others. I live in Virginia now and was contacted by another one of our friends in California. So you are remembered across the United States and that my friend is no laughing matter. I pray for your loved ones that are left behind. For they and all others who cared and loved you are the ones who suffer, may God be with you all not just now but always!! Steve you were a great friend and will always be remembered as a big guy with a big heart. Like I´ve said You will be missed by many. We will see you again..
