I too would like to add a brief note conveying how much Steve will be missed. I knew him primarily as a professional colleague, but was always impressed by his passion and ethical commitment to the highest quality science. At the same time, he was good guy with a wonderful amiable personality. I will miss him personally as will so many others in our professional society (PsychoNeuroImmunology Research Society). He was an important, early formative member of the PNIRS

I was so sad to hear of Dr. Zalcman's passing. He was a mentor to me, and one of the reasons I chose to attend UMDNJ. Even though I had not spoken with him in a few months, I always knew he was there if I needed to discuss anything with him. He will be greatly missed.

I still can n't believe that Dr. Zalcman is no more with us. I vividly remember all the discussions I had with him about both research and other topics. He was very kind at heart and his presence can n't be replaced in the University.

Dr. Zalcman was my mentor, guide, teacher and also friend. While working at New Jersey Medical School, I have come across many researchers, however I have not met anyone like Dr. Zalcman who had extraordinary interest and also passion for research. I will always remember him and he will be missed.

My deepest condolences to his family members. May his divine soul rest in peace.

Steve was a wonderful colleague as part of our close-knit ISIS Network on Sex/gender Differences in the Brain. Personally, in addition to adding to the general camaraderie we all felt during our 4x/year meetings with his gentle intelligence, he taught me a great deal personally, as we co-edited an issue of the American Journal of Physiology in 2006, and when I sought out his advice on research. I send my deepest condolences to his family. With warmest wishes,
Karen Berkley
