In Sue Ellen Kottkamp Wine's mind, Heaven is depicted in a painting hung prominently in her home. In that image, Heaven is a place filled with clouds, golden gates, pastel-green trees and grass, with roads paved with gold. On February 3rd, 2019, Sue made it there to be with the love of her life, R. Michael (Mike) Wine (d.1992), along with her parents, Ralph and Olive (Garrity) Kottkamp, siblings, Ronald Kottkamp and Phyllis (Gehrich), and many other cherished relatives and friends who passed before her. Sue is survived by siblings Freeda (Nelis) and Paul Kottkamp. Her journey likely brought her to a place where she can enjoy her chocolate while perusing FaceBook and watching an endless stream of Hallmark-inspired movies starring her children and their spouses - Michelle Wine and Lee (Linnenburger) of Colorado Springs, CO; Sheri Wine and J.D. (Cummins) of Piqua, OH; Dennis and Jen (Kramer-Wine) of Cincinnati,OH. Her last decade was inspired by time with her "Grandbabies," who were the light of her life - Brittany, Candis, Ellie, Liam, Jade, and Laena - and great-grandchild, Adam.
To her family, Sue inspired a level of unparalleled generosity, often donating to help other families during their times of need. She celebrated her favorite holiday, Christmas, by filling stockings with nourishment, and donating to countless Angel Tree recipients. Sue's generosity met creativity as she compiled 3-ring binder albums filled with school memories or newspaper articles that were of interest to those she loved - she might well have been an expert on Pete Rose and NCR's acquisition by AT&T. Born in Indianapolis, IN, on May 22, 1941, she raised her family in Dayton, OH, before finally settling in Colorado Springs, CO, where she died peacefully at home at the age of 78. Please join her family and friends on Friday, February 15, 2019, at Prince of Peace Church of the Brethren (800 E. David Road, Dayton, OH) for a 2:00 pm visitation and 3:00 pm celebration of life memorial, followed by a graveside service at David's Cemetery, and reception back at the church immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, The American Cancer Society, or Prince of Peace Church of the Brethren.
