Susan Dodson Obituary

My lovely wife, mum, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend to many passed away on December 21, 2005. She was born in 1944 in Cambridge, England and enjoyed life as a loving and supportive military wife and then went on to a fulfilling career as a Military Food Broker. Later she worked to assist the elderly and then passed away very quickly from an aneurysm to the brain. She found peace and strength in turning the soil of her flower garden, sewing and delighting in her new grandbaby Natalie. She is survived by her husband, Chuck Dodson; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Chrissie Dodson; grandchildren: baby Natalie Dodson and Justin Dodson; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Wayne Hicks and their family Ryan Hicks, Rob and Erica Hicks and baby Kevin. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2005, at the Lindbergh Chapel of the First United Methodist Church, 420 N. Nevada Av. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charitable organization or to the American Cancer Society. She will be dearly missed.

Chuck, Jane & Mike,

I remember so vividly your visit to us in the summer of 1978. Mike & I were just 8 and 9 years old, and it seemed as if ya'll were there with us the whole summer. Aunt Susan had the most amazing laugh and smile that I'll never forget. Nor will I forget my confusion with the way she said "tomatoes". To a young GA girl, I thought she was asking for something that wasn't even on the table! May God heal your shock, hurt and emptiness that I know you must feel now that this wonderful lady is missing from your lives.

The Dodson's and Solomons have been friends for over thirty years. I felt honored to add you all to my life when I married Walter. For years Sue has been a friend and support. Chuck, you and Sue have not only shared the joyous times but have been a support during our difficult times. Through Walter's death, Evan's and Teresa's cancer and many other times we have counted on you. Sue made the baptismal gowns for my kids and you both sat in the hospital with me when Evan was sick. We will be with you as you grieve and heal from this sudden loss. You have both been angels to us. We have no doubt Sue is amoung the angels and at peace. Our love and prayers go out to you.

To Chuck and Family,

I am so sad to hear of Sue's passing. I fondly remember the Sat. morning breakfast meeting that we all enjoyed so much. Sue made it so much fun and I know that both Mel and I looked forward to our weekly meeting. I pray that God will give you His peace and comfort during this hard time. May you rest in the knowledge that God's will and plan for Sue has been accomplished.

Sue was like an angel from God who blessed everyone around her with solid gold love and sunshine bright cheer. She was hard working, always helpful, friendly, gracious, considerate and kind to my Mom and all around. Everyone in my family loved and respected her, and we all appreciated how good and genuine a friend she was to our mother. I thank God for her. She was truly an anwer to prayer. She is in Heaven now with her loving Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ and I look forward to seeing her again in eternity where she is already visiting my Mom again. Susan was a wonderful Christian and a great American.

I don't know where to start or how to end. Sue was such a true, dear friend to me. It didn't matter how much time passed between our visits, it was always like coming home when we talked. She was always there for me and took such good care of me. I don't know how I would have gotten by without her support. She included me and Mallory as part of her family. I have such wonderful memories of our times together that I will treasure for all my life. The fun tea parties with Nan. The "December Birthday Parties" The Saturday morning coffee/teas. The memories go on and on. Sue blessed my life and she made a huge impact on me. I will love her forever.

It's hard to express the feelings at the loss of a friend. I have known Sue for a relatively short time and she always made me feel good when I saw her. She was genuine and caring in her friendship. We had a rivalry over who had the cutest granddaughter and she always spoke lovingly of her family. Bunco will not be the same, nor will I. My fondest thoughts go to her family and close fiends at this difficult time.

I am so honored to have known Sue. She was such a wonderful lady with so much love. The smile on her face could light up an entire room. I thank God that I was able to spend time visiting with Sue at Mallory's shower, I will treasure that time with her forever. God bless you, I love you Sue.

My enduring image of Sue will be of her sitting on her front steps with her granddaughter Natalie in her lap, beaming with pride and love. I will miss her and will be thinking of her and her family as I pass by her house.

I was so devastated when my sister, Susan Alberg, told me that Sue had been flown to the hospital & then passed away. I am so sorry. I enjoyed meeting her through my sister & felt as if I had known her my whole life. It was so great getting to visit with you & Sue, Chuck, at Mallory's wedding. I got to sit beside her at Mallory's shower so got to visit with her then too. What a wonderful lady!! May you feel God's strong arms wrapped around you during this difficult time & may your precious memories of Sue help you through these days. My prayers will be with you. You should be so proud of the many lives Sue touched in such a positive manner!

It was always so nice to see Sue at Susan's, when I'd come to visit. It was nice to see her at Mallory's wedding. Sue was such a good friend and neighbor to Susan, my daughter.

I love Sue so much, I have known her since I was about 5 years old and I cannot believe that she is gone. She has been there for me and my mom through thick and thin. She is apart of my family. I am so glad that that she got to be apart of my wedding, and I love her so much. I know that one day I will see her and Nan and then they will know what a HUGE difference they made in my life. I love you Sue and I cannot wait until the day I see you again. I love you so much, RIP. Mallory

When delivering Meals on Wheels to Marge Kjeldsen, I came to know Susan who not only brightened Marge's life but the lives of all who came in contact with her. What a wonderful lady she was.
