Susan Stafford Obituary

Susan Fitzgerald Stafford, 84, ended her courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) on March 14, 2017. Sue dedicated her life to serving others. Sue was an amazing wife and mother - family was always at the core of Sue's world. Her greatest joys included family, cooking, and her many beloved pets.

Sue had a wonderful career in the nursing field spanning over 40 years specializing in neo-natal, respiratory, home-health, and hospice care. While her children were young, Sue worked at the kids' elementary school as teacher so she could be near them. After MS prohibited Sue from working full time, Sue's passion became volunteering in the Colorado Springs community. She nurtured children, educated at-risk expectant mothers, and worked tirelessly for many years at multiple local hospice agencies comforting families in their times of need.

Sue is survived by her husband, Bob Stafford, her sister, Jean Buffamante, her five children: Rob (and Nora) Stafford, Carolyn (and Mike) Boggs, Liz (and Bill Mitchell Jr.) Stafford, Tim (and Erlinda) Stafford, and Phil (and Joyce) Stafford along with her eleven grandchildren: Robert and Garhett Stafford, Chloe and Ben Boggs, Valerie and Alli Brown, Levi and Letti Stafford, and Philip, Sarah, and Nate Stafford.

There will be a private family service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Sue's name to either the Springs Rescue Mission (5 W. Las Vegas St, Colorado Springs, CO 80903) or Best Friends Animal Society (www.bestfriends.org) would be greatly appreciated.

To share condolences, visit www.cappadonafh.com. Her children will read them at their private family service.

As a wonderful wife, mom, and grammy, Sue will be missed dearly by those who loved her.

I used to smile when I saw Sue Stafford's name on the Dental Hygiene schedule. I knew she'd come in with a big smile and great stories about her children, grandchildren and their great family vacations. Since I retired, she is one of the patients I really missed. God Bless and kind wishes to her loving family. Sincerely, Pat Geonetta RDH

Our families first met 38 years ago when my Mom, Lorraine Creamer, became "pet sitter" for you. That "job" developed into a beautiful friendship as we watched each other's families grow up, begin their "adult lives",and start families of their own. Your Mom's strength and courage in fighting her battle with MS, and her great love of family were always an inspiration to us. There are not enough words to fully express the sadness we feel nor the personal sense of loss of such a wonderful woman - Sue Stafford. Please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers, and hope you find some degree of comfort in your faith and the knowledge of how much Sue loved each and every one of you.
