Fetters, Suzanne Ellen

Suzanne Ellen Fetters, born December 29, 1941 to Paul and Marguerite Schauer, in McKeesport, PA, departed this world, to spend eternity with the Lord Jesus Christ, on August 16, 2014.
The Schauer family moved to San Gabriel, California when Sue was three years of age and she grew up in the shadow of the historic San Gabriel Mission. Sue attended San Gabriel Mission Grammar School and High School where she participated in cheer leading and excelled academically. She attended Immaculate Heart College and California State University at Los Angeles (then known as Los Angeles State College) graduating with a degree in Early Childhood Development.
Throughout her youth Sue enjoyed tennis and the game became a center piece of her family's life. While in college she also took up golf while continuing with tennis. Sue worked as a financial manager in her father's manufacturing business for over thirty years retiring in 2000.
In adulthood Sue became an equestrian enjoying riding and training horses and eventually bred two of her own foals. Her prized Morgan gelding, Small Town Justice, was a champion show horse in the Los Angeles circuit. She also gave free riding lessons to children at her Covina residence as a way of introducing youngsters to the joys of an equestrian lifestyle.
Sue was very active in the community and was a strong advocate for good government. She served for four years as a Commissioner on the Los Angeles County Pornography Commission as well as serving on the Federal Meese Commission.
Suzanne passed away in her home after a yearlong battle with cancer.
She is survived by her husband of more than 48 years, Larry Fetters, whom she met in college, a daughter Patricia of Aliso Viejo, CA, and a son John of Covina CA. She is also survived by her brothers Paul and Robert as well as her sisters Rita and Mary Ann. and myriad nephews, nieces, friends and neighbors. Sue was preceded in death by her parents and a younger sister, Rebecca.
A vigil and Rosary will be held at the Custer Christiansen Mortuary, 124 S Citrus Avenue, Covina CA. on Monday, August 25 from 6PM to 9 PM. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 10 AM at St. Louise DE Marillac Catholic Church, 1720 E Covina Blvd, Covina Blvd. Interment will be at Oakdale Cemetery, 1401 S Grand Avenue, Glendora, CA.
