Suzanne Kay Jones, born in Oklahoma City, OK on March 11th, 1944 to Betty and John Nimmo, left her earthbound body and her soul is now in heaven with her family and friends who preceded her. She passed away on Friday, March 24th 2023 almost two weeks after her 79th birthday. A woman ahead of her time, she was open and inviting to different world beliefs and diverse cultures. Always an adventurous and curious spirit, she traveled the world as both a child with her military family, an Air Force Officer wife, and a seasoned adult enjoying the wonders of our beautiful earth with her husband, William Jones, friends and family. She loved being a mother to two daughters, grandmother to five grandchildren, and great-grandmother to a great-granddaughter. Suzanne provided memorable family gatherings filled with warmth and fun. She was an avid reader and loved reciting poetry and investing lots of her time into mysteries and books revolving around the complexities of humanity. Suzanne worked as the Youth Minster for Holy Apostles Church for several years, enjoyed hot air balloon rides, white water rafting, volunteering at the Colorado Springs Airport information booth, book clubs, bridge groups, bible study meetings, and bringing humor and entertainment to all as a member of Pillar Readers group.
There will be no funeral at this time, but rather a Celebration of Life with friends and family at a later date. She is survived by her daughters, Valerie Hines and Patricia Jones; her grandchildren, William, Rachele, Katherine, and Thomas Hines; a great-granddaughter, Eleanor; and her brothers, John, David, and Roger Nimmo. Her parents, husband and grandson Ryan Jones precede her.
