Sylvia "Anna" Adams lived her life with an abundance of love, energy and enthusiasm, but lost her brave battle with Parkinson's Disease on Friday, June 4, 2021 at the age of 83. Though she suffered the consequences of her disease in the last 7 years of her life, she remained playful, loyal and tenacious until her last days. She had a soft voice, a gentle touch, and the sweetest smile. An interaction with Anna left a long impression in one's memory because of the unique tenderness she could impart.
She married Ward, the love of her life, in 1960 after meeting on a blind date in her first week at the University of Minnesota. Last summer they celebrated 60 years of marriage. They welcomed three children into their marriage-Anne, Joe and Henry, and shared their Christian faith, and interests in architecture, gardening, music, Coastal Georgia and golf. They participated as coaches, team volunteers and cheerleaders in nearly every activity in which their young children engaged. They lived in Colorado Springs most of their married life, relocating to Denver 14 years ago to be close to family.
If you were a family member of Anna's, you were forever knitted to her heart. Her friends were very important too, and she had many lifelong relationships. She would happily welcome a visit, share a cup of coffee, or play a card game with any one at any time. She was unfazed by difficulties of her own or missteps by others, and her loyalty was not challenged by circumstance. She enjoyed children in a special way, delighting in their antics and language. Nothing failed to interest her in regard to those in her circle. In her last days, she asked in a barely audible whisper if she could FaceTime from Heaven, so great was her longing to stay in the company of those she loved.
Anna's legacy is the love she shared with her family and close bonds she helped them to establish with each other. She was loving without fail and valued people, relationships and shared experiences. She worked hard at everything she did and valued high achievement. Her devoted husband, her children and grandchildren miss her deeply. Her reach was long and her impact will be everlasting in the lives of those she touched, for hers was a life well lived and one full of love.
Anna is survived by her husband, Ward, and her children, Anne Schaefer (Jeff), Joe Adams (Katy) and Henry Adams. She had 12 grandchildren: Ben and Henry Schaefer, Holly Schaefer Schoolcraft, Beau Schoolcraft, Josh, Megan, Amanda, Ethan and Ally Adams, and Nick, Peter and Luca Adams-Agresti. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Iris Shinrock Holm, her brother William Holm, her sister Elma Johnson, and her daughter-in-law Barbara Agresti (Henry Adams). Her sister, Patsy Ann Ingenthron, passed away August 18, 2021.
Donations can be made in Anna's name to the Parkinson Association of the Rockies. An internment service is planned at 10:30AM on September 4, 2021 in the Meditation Glen at the Broadmoor Community Church at 315 Lake Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO. A reception will follow in the Narthex of the church.
