Home day care provider for 28yrs in Falcon. Also known as "Miss Thelma" to her clients. Also known as "Nee Nee" to many.
She and her husband Andrew "Andy" Penrod have five children; Kathy Uknis of Philadelphia, Andrea Johnston of Littleton, Drew Penrod of Ft. Collins, Sandra Lair of Falcon, and Sarah Kailin of Houston.
Thelma will be laid to rest in the Penrod Family Plot in Muncie, Indiana.
Miss Thelma was well educated and credentialed in child care. She has been a member and officer of the Pikes Peak Area Family Child Care Association- PPAFCCA, for many years. She also was a member of the local area Home Network organization in Colorado Springs.
Thelma has become known as a very "can do" provider and pre-school teacher, preparing many children for their future in education.
Miss Thelma- "Nee Nee" will be deeply missed and very deeply loved by many, young and old.
Visitation will be held November 1, 2017 from 5-9pm at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave. Colorado Springs, CO 80903. A service will be held in Muncie, Indiana with a burial in the Family Plot.

Thelma, Nee Nee, was a loving woman who was adored by many. She poured her heart into the children she cared for and always made you feel like a part of the family. We were blessed to have our Lilianna as one of her daycare kids and will always hold her close to our hearts. We love the Penrod family and send our prayers for comfort.

So sorry to hear of Thelma's passing. She was truly a special lady. She always had a smile on her face. She was a big part of our family for many years. She always made us feel like we were a part of the Penrod family. Marissa and Christopher still refer to her as Ms. Thelma even 24 years later. We will keep Andy, Sandra, Sarah and all of the family in our thoughts and prayers.
