Anyone who knows me knows that I am a Daddy's Girl. My Father was my Daddy, my Best Friend and my Hero.
Dad never made it past the 9th grade but he was one of the smartest people I have ever known. If your car wasn't running he's fix it, put a dent in the fender, no one knew the uses of bondo like Dad. Wanted a house remodeled or built, he'd build it. You need someone to run a backhoe or Catapillar, here would come Dad. One of my favorites, need someone to hang off the side of a building in downtown Denver to hang windows, Dad did it, and if it could be welded together Dad would weld it. Nothing that he could do with his hands was ever to small or large of a job. He kept all this knowledge stored away.
Dad tried to teach me everything he knew. He taught me how to ride a motorcycle, to drive a car and truck, and how to operate a Cat Tractor with the patience of a saint never losing his temper.
Dad always worked hard but when it came time to play he played hard too. If we were racing dirt bikes at the property, tubing down snow covered hills, fishing, camping, hiking, or just sitting around with a group of friends having drinks there was one guarantee, there would be the makings of wonderful memories that would last a lifetime.
Over the last few weeks as I have been making phones calls. There were always the same comments made about Dad. He was such a huge influence in so many lives. He taught so many people so many things never by telling or lecturing, but always by doing. If Dad said he would do it you could always count on him to do it. If you ever needed anything and Dad had it or knew how to get it, it was yours. There are very few people you meet in this world that had a heart, the personality, and sense of humor Dad had. He would touch your life and you would be blessed for having known him.And at last no one was safe from getting a nickname or being subjected to his sense of humor.
This is just the things that can be put into words about my Dad and there is so much more that words just can't convey. He will be remembered with so much fondness, laughter and love, for all the lives he's touched are forever changed.
This is just part of why I am a Daddy's Girl and always will be. I Love You Daddy and you will be so dearly missed until we meet again.
