Thomas Sneed Obituary

Tom was born on February 29, 1936, in Dallas to Vivian (Chandler) and Marion Newton Sneed. His family moved to Houston, where he grew up in the Heights and graduated from Spring Branch High School in 1955. Tom attended Blinn College and Sam Houston State University. He entered the U.S. Navy where he was a radar operator on planes, as well as blimps, and traveled the globe during his four years of service. Thomas Marion Sneed, 74, of Bryan, Texas, formerly of Colorado Springs, CO, passed away on June 5, 2010, in Bryan. Memorial services are set for 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 18, at Hillier Funeral Home. The family requests that in celebration of Tom's life that festive and casual clothes be worn to his service. Tom went into automotive sales and bought his first transmission shop in Oklahoma City, Okla., in 1968. He was a successful owner and manager in the transmission business for more than 30 years. He loved his sports and was a regular news junkie before the invention of 24-hour news. Tom always had a smile, a funny story or a joke to tell to brighten up your day. He rarely complained and always asked how it was going with you, and meant it too. His kindness and humor will be missed by many. For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord. - Romans 14:8 Tom was preceded in death by his beloved parents; brother, Bobby Sneed; and the mother of his children, Louise (Longshore) Sneed. Survivors include his children and their spouses, Kelly Sausley McGraw, Steffanie & Mike Balog, Marion & Troy Boister, Thomas Jr. & Kaleshia Sneed, and Aaron Sneed; grandchildren, Savannah, Dallan, Kayleigh, Sage and Shelby; two step-grandsons, Harrison and Cameron; a grand-God-son, Jorvis; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Mary Sneed of Spring, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A special thanks to Dad's caregiver Irene Gibbs, the whole Meals on Wheels team, as well as Daddy's awesome heart specialist, Dr. Marc Schwartz. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Meals on Wheels, 203 W. 30th St., Bryan, TX 77803, attn: Carolyn Hall. Please view and sign the guestbook at www.hillierfuneralhome.com.
