Thomas J. Uetrecht, 62, of Colorado Springs, passed away on May 28, 2011 surrounded by family and friends. He was born in St. Louis, MO on July 22, 1948 to his mother, Mary Lochman Uetrecht and father, Clarence Uetrecht. Tom had one sister, Terry Gower of Longview, TX. He met his wife Cathy in Dover, DE when he was stationed at Dover AFB; they were married on March 20, 1985 in Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii. Tom and Cathy were blessed with two children from previous marriages, their daughter Stacy Williams of Ft. Worth, TX and son Timothy Williams (USAF) of Felton, DE. Tom and Cathy were happily married for 26 years. Tom served his country as a member of the US Air Force and retired from the service in 1992 after 23 years. After retiring from the Air Force in Myrtle Beach, SC Tom and Cathy moved to Colorado. Tom worked as the shipping department manager for Medtronic, Inc. and most recently as a Sky Cap for Delta Air Lines Global Services. Tom was a devoted husband and father. When not helping friends and family he enjoyed playing golf, bowling and restoring his classic truck. Tom was diagnosed with cancer in December 2010. A Memorial Service honoring Tom will be held at Shine of Remembrance Chapel on Friday, June 3 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society Colorado Springs or to Pikes Peak Hospice who helped care for Tom in the last weeks of his life. Our thanks to the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center team and Dr. David Headley for trying so hard to develop a treatment plan. Cathy, Tim and Stacy send their sincere gratitude and appreciation to all of our family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors for all of their support and prayers.

Dear Cathy, we were with you in spirit yesterday, and sorry that duty obligations did not permit us to be with you, as Tom's life was celebrated; but every moment of the day you were, and continue to be, in our hearts and prayers. Also, Mass was offered for Tom on Thursday. Tom was, and is, a kind soul with quiet strength. May Christ Jesus walk close with you during this tender time, as Tom now walks close to Jesus.

Tom had a heart bigger than most. His smile was genuine, his laugh was true. He shook your hand with respect and hugged you with love. He was the kind of person you would be honored to call a friend. You will be missed by many.
