Thomas "Tom" Williams, age 82, former resident of Teller County, CO, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, in Colorado Springs, surrounded by the love of his family. A proud veteran of the United States Army, Tom dedicated 24 years of his life in service to his country. He also proudly served the US Postal Service for over a decade.

Tom was born in 1943 in the Bronx, New York, to Tomas and Mercedes Olivo Williams. He spent most of his childhood in Miami, Florida, where he attended Melrose Elementary, Coconut Grove Junior High, and graduated from Miami High School. He also earned an Associated Degree from Pikes Peak Community College.

Tom went on to serve in the U.S. Army for 24 years, including a combat tour in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. Other overseas assignments included Germany and Korea. A career Non-Commissioned Officer he retired as a Sergeant First Class. He was known for his leadership, resilience, physical fitness and strong sense of duty. During his military career, he received numerous honors, medals and qualifications. After retiring from the Army, Tom continued to serve others through his work and personal life. Tom and Elizabeth lived in Florissant in Colorado Mountain Estates for many years, building two homes there before moving to Arizona. They returned to Colorado to be closer to their children about 5 years ago. Tom was a proud member of American Legion Post 1980 in Woodland Park.

Tom was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Williams of Colorado Springs; his children Dan Williams and wife Suzan, Tim Williams and Amy, and Angela Johnson and husband Jacob his grandchildren [Benjamin, Rachel, Jennifer, and Cody, and his great grandchildren Jude, Jack, and Juliet) and his siblings Mercedes Evans and husband Wendell Evans, Alexander Williams, John Williams and wife Carol, and Allen Wayne Williams.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tomas and Mercedes Williams, and his siblings Martha Shinkman and Daniel Williams.

Tom will be remembered for his inner strength, quiet humor, generous spirit, and deep love for his family. His life was a testimony to courage, service and enduring faith. His love for his wife Elizabeth and his family sustained him throughout his entire life.

A celebration of life and memorial service will be held on 7 August 2025 at 9 am at the Little Chapel of the Hills in Divide Colorado and a full military honors service on 7 August 2025 at 2 pm at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Little Chapel of the Hills Food Pantry.

"Our death is not an end if we can live on in our children and the younger generation. For they are us; our bodies are only wilted leaves on the tree of life."
