Timothy Ward Obituary

Timothy Taylor Ward Sr. passed away on Sept. 21, 2014, at CU Hospital/Anschutz Cancer Center in Aurora, after a year-long battle with leukemia. Tim was born June 13, 1941 in Knox City, Texas to W.T. and Aldine (Melton)Ward.

Tim attended school in Benjamin, TX and Fountain, CO, where the family ran Midway Ranch "midway" between Pueblo and Colorado Springs. He was a talented athlete and graduated in 1959 from Fountain High School. Tim married Nancy Ballard Harris of Colorado Springs. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this past June.

After many years spent ranching, he moved on to land and water development businesses. He was an active member of Soil Savers/Soil Conservation Society, a 32nd degree Mason, an original member of the Colorado Springs Country Club, a member of the Pikes Peak and Colorado Cattleman's Association and a supporter of Easter Seals.

He loved to play golf and spend time in the mountains with his family. His laugh and friendship will be missed by many.

Tim is survived by his wife Nancy, children Kim Simshauser (Wayne Simshauser) of Fountain, Timothy Ward Jr. of Colo. Springs, and Jennifer Jill Ward (Loren Bersch) of Carr, CO; brother Bill (Donna), nephews Bill (Lisa), Scott and Kevin Ward, and niece Bonnie Benham (Jeff).

His parents preceded him in death.

A "Celebration of Life" party will be held at a later date.

Nancy - Donna and I extend our deepest sympathies to you and your family with Tim's loss. What a great guy. Enjoyed playing golf with him as well as spending some time at soil savers and soup/supper.

A smile and a storybook of wit was Tim's trademark. Always willing to participate when called upon for the community. My condolences to his family. May the memories help to ease the grief.
