Tina DiAsio Obituary

Tina Shwen DiAsio peacefully joined her Lord and Savior on December 15, 2011 in Sun City, AZ. surrounded by her loving family. She died of carcinoid cancer and the numerous obstacles she faced for 20 years by continuing to give the Lord the Glory until the end. She was born April 29, 1946 in Cheyenne, Wyoming at the F. E. Warren Air Force Base, the daughter of Ralph and Novoline Shwen. She grew up in Cheyenne. She attended the University of Arizona and then CSU where she graduated with a B.A. in 1967. She also received a M.S. in nutrition from University of CA in 1968. She lived in the Colorado Springs, CO area for 30 years before she moved to Sun City, AZ. Tina was an amazing mother, devoted to raising her son Sean to serve the Lord. She was a mentor and mother in many ways to many other young men and women as she had faith in everyone, and always chose to see the good in people and nurture them spiritually. Tina was a friend to many in need, a mother to those without, and a rock and strength to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed as she was loved by the multitude of dear friends and family who were changed eternally by her love, care and belief in them. Her motto "Never give up hope" and "Always see the good in things" was evident as she mentored many young men and women and led them to a life of Christ Jesus. Tina was a devoted bible study teacher and evangelist. She was the founder of Women are Wonderful and At the Feet of Jesus retreats which drew women from a wide geographical area. As an ordained minister, she shared her testimony and spoke at many local and state conventions for Womens Aglow Fellowship, Int., Tabernacle Ministries, Evergreen Retreats, and Rocky Mountain Conference. She ministered in Ethiopia and Honduras with a Christian group of women. She loved going to Israel and seeing the land where Jesus walked. Tina is survived by her beloved son Sean and his wife Alicia, her mother Novoline Shwen, sister Sherri McKenna(Tom), sister Patti Case(Tom), brother Steve and former wife Rebecca Shwen and family; her grandchildren Kyler, Jacob, Aubree and Emma; stepchildren Grant Lucas(Eileen) and Kelly Cheek(Tim), former husband, Richard DiAsio; former husband John Grant, and many nieces and nephews. Her father preceded her to heaven in 2004, and her daughter Joy, in 1984. There will be a memorial service to honor and celebrate Tina's life in Colorado Springs, CO later in the year. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that if you have been touched by Tina's life, please feel free to write down how she ministered to you or your family and bring it to the memorial service to be held later this year as it will be added into a book commemorating Tina's inspirational life and work.

Tina was such a blessing to so many. Her passion for the Lord was precious & powerful. I loved her honesty, her pure heart, & her love for people. I was so sorry to hear of her passing, but I know she is where she wants to be, in His presence. Tina we loved you in life & we'll see you again one day.

Tina was my sister. She encouraged me when I was down and helped me through thick and thin. She never judged me. She introduced me to Jesus on Jan 4th, 1982...in 2007, she invited me to live with Sean and Rich when I was in a bad way. I will always be so greatful to her. She was a good mother and wife. We had quite an experience living together for a year and a half. Tina never put herself before others. I watched as she fought the great fight. I am so proud of her..she is gone but not forgotten..I know I will see her again...Goodbye Sister...her brother Steve

Tina was a kind hearted woman who ministered powerfully to so many women in the Pikes Peak region. She walked as a New Testament Lydia helping others to overcome the issues of their everyday circumstances. I was blessed to know her and minister along side her. I have no doubt she is in Heaven asking Jesus where He needs her next.

My mother was a strong and amazing woman of God. In her life she touched so many lives and ministered to so many. If it were not for my wonderful mother, I would not even be here. Her prayers and intercession saved my life, before I even left the womb, as well as many other times throughout my life. She was obediant to Gods direction without question, even down to her last breath. Tina is a light and an example of absolute surrender and what it means to abandon yourself for God.
I love you mommy! I miss you terribly! My comfort lies in the fact that you were greeted by a multitude of family and friends in heaven and now are able to dine and live in the presence of the one whom you served so well! I know you hear "WELL DONE!! GOOD AND FAITHFUL DAUGHTER!!!!" Every day! And it is true!
I also am comforted that you traded in this broken and tattered earthly body, for a perfect and whole one, one that you can run and dance and play with Jesus with every day!
I will see you again soon and we will dance and rejoice in eternal glory!!!!

Tina was always a good friend...for over 40 years. Even though we didn't see each other often, we kept in touch. She had a beautiful spirit and a gentle loving soul. Rest in Peace, my friend.

Tina ministered at a women's retreat I attended. I was fractured by the church and was in a state of complete grief and wholly discouraged. She refused to leave me there and through gentle loving care she pulled me up and showed me what restoration looked like. I am forever changed by her obedience to the Holy Spirit and His amazing transforming peace. I am so thrilled to know with absolute surety that she is at the feet of her Jesus whole and fully restored.

Dear Tina, The strength you had carried many, many women to greater destinies and greater lives. Each time you touched someone you handed over a Baton to the person you impacted. Now it is up to us to run our races so that we in turn, can pass on our baton to others coming up behind us. I still marvel at your amazing strength and God-given abilities. If I could have even a portion of what you had it would be amazing! I am honored to have known you and to have been touched by your Heart of Love. ~ Debra Gonzales

Tina changed my life. She was so amazing. She was a mighty woman who loved Jesus more then anyone I knew. Her intimacy with Christ was something I had never seen before I met her. She is my hero. Love you Tina.

How can I say in a few words the impact that the life of Tina DiAsio had on and in me? It is not possible – I feel like I would be trivializing the essence of who she was in this life. Suffice it to say I had the greatest amount of respect and love for Tina. She was always the standard of what I wanted my relationships to be – with God and with humanity. I miss her terribly . . . but I know that I know that I know she is laughing with the Father and screaming “fire” somewhere . . . can't you just see her? Tina, I will always love you . . .
