Tommy Parker Obituary

Tommy G. Parker ~ Born in Cherokee, Oklahoma ~ After attending Manitou High School, Tommy worked for the Cog Railway from 1958 to 1975. In his prime, he would rise very early to go to work on Pikes Peak. When not working, Tommy loved to fish, hunt and collect old bottles around Manitou. An accident at work cost him part of his speech and medical problems followed him thereafter. No more rugged work on Pikes Peak. His next line of work was part time at one of his high school hangouts, The Penny Arcade. At Arcade Amusements Inc., he hosed down sidewalks, scraped gum, cleaned machines and wrapped coins for over 20 years. He was a friend to the place and the place was a friend to him. Though Tommy could or would not say much, his expressions, mannerisms and few words spoke volumes. Boom Boom Boom, No Way Baby, Yeah Yeah Yeah Raiders All The Way! Anyone who took the time to communicate with Tom was justly rewarded. And if you received a scowl or grumpy look, that too was a gift. Thanks to the friends, workers, doctors, drivers, nurses, cashiers and all those that understood and enjoyed Tommy Parker. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, James Roger Parker and Ruby L. Dean. Tommy will be missed by many, including the birds, deer and squirrels that he loved to feed and chatter with. Boom Boom, Dead and Gone Later On Baby!! Good Day

Tommy and I grew up playing a lot of basketball. He had a shot that would slam dunk the ball every time. We knew each other since grade school. We had many explorations in Hucky Cove. I remember he got stuck once and we had to pry him out of there. Tommy was always good to me. He was and is a lifetime friend. I will miss him very much. Until we meet again my friend, in the kingdom of God, may you rest in peace.
