Toneta Winter Obituary

Ms. Toneta Winter, 58 years of age, a long time resident of Colorado Springs passed away on September 27, 2005. She is survived by her five children: Keri Lewis of Colorado Springs, Brent Barbur of New York, Misty Barbur of Italy, Stefny Potter of New York, Jay Potter of Indiana; and seven grandchildren. Her loss is mourned by not only her family but countless friends and members of the community. After graduating from Hillsboro Union High in Oregon she began her entrepreneurial adventures by representing Hush Puppies in the late 70's after which time she relocated to California where she produced fashion shows, commercials and co-owned a construction service company as well as raised her family. In 1992 the family relocated to Colorado Springs where she sat on the Board of Directors of several non-profit organizations, delighted in designing wedding gowns and other elegant clothing for individuals and without ceasing always strived to be her best. She is an inspiration to us all. The family would like to invite you to attend a memorial reception at the Briarhurst Manor 404 Manitou Avenue, Manitou Springs, CO at 7:00 p.m. October 7, 2005. In lieu of flowers donations for her memorial are being accepted in her loving memory. You may contact Mr. or Mrs. Jay Potter for more information 719-321-0850.

Toneta rented my townhome for the last four years. Her spirit will remain in the place she once called home. I feel fortunate to have met her. I have felt her pain when she first became sick. I am very sorry to hear of her passing.

As friends on earth we were allowed the opportunity to become friends and raise our children together. We always knew the other was there for good and bad times. I love her always!

I have known Toneta since I was 7 yrs old and was her roommate for the last 2+ yrs up until she moved to Indiana in August 2005 for what I couldn't believe was the last month of her life. I am still in shock that she is no longer on this planet and will miss her beautiful smile. I pray she is in the kingdom of heaven and look forward to seeing her again when my time is up.
