Toni Runyon Obituary

Toni Runyon, age 85, was called home to be with the Lord on March 12, 2015. Toni passed away at her home in Security after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's and was comforted by family and caregivers.

Toni was born on June 13, 1929, in Lumberton, New Mexico, the fifth child of Etubride and Lena Sanchez. She moved to Colorado and married the love of her life, Donald L. Runyon, on October 2, 1950 in Colorado Springs.

Toni worked for Ampex Corporation for numerous years as a precision setter, where she honed her skills for meticulousness and attention to detail. She had a strong work ethic and took great pride in her job. She made friends easily with all her co-workers, friendships that endured until her death. Her caring and giving nature truly set her apart and she was willing to do whatever she could for someone in need. However, Toni was most proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed telling anyone who would listen of their successes and accomplishments. When not bragging on her family, she spent countless days camping and fishing with her husband of 64 years.

Toni was a devout Catholic and parish member of Holy Family Catholic Church and later Saint Dominic's. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Eturbide and Lena Sanchez; three brothers, Joe, Vincent, Turby; one sister, Mary Tranthem; and one grandson, Jason Farmer.

She is survived by her husband, Donald; three daughters, Jean (Timothy) Keenan, Sheri (Donald) Howard, and Brenda (Joseph) Breister; one son, Donald William Runyon; one brother, Frank Sanchez; one sister, Lucille Cedar; 12 grandchildren, Jenny Duncan, Donna Sisk, Michelle Farmer, Don Howard, Tim Runyon, Toni Trujillo, Christopher Howard, Tim Denton, Thom Runyon, Jesse Runyon, Nikole Breister, and Amber Breister, as well as several great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held at Saint Dominic's Church on Tuesday, March 17, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., with a rosary prayer to follow. Funeral services will be the following day, Wednesday, March 18, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Dominic's.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pikes Peak Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association of Colorado Springs.
