Tony Emerson Obituary

Tony L. Emerson was a gift from God to Ralph W. Emerson, Jr. and Annie Lee Whitson on March 27, 1967 in Oakland, California. He attended elementary and junior high school in the Richmond Unified School District and graduated from Cerritos High School, Cerritos California. He attended Cerritos Junior College and Texas Southern University. Tony enlisted in the U. S. Navy, where he was able to nurture his love for cooking. Over the course of his life, he was able to complete the requirements and became a certified sous chef. During his tour of duty in the Navy, Tony served in Desert Storm and was awarded the National Defense Service Ribbon, and the Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Star. He was employed with Skyline Products in Colorado Springs. Tony loved life and was willing to experience all it had to offer. After relocating to Colorado Springs, he met and married the lovely Cheryl Colson. Tony accepted Christ at age 12 and was baptized at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Los Angeles California. In his pursuit of knowing more about Christ, Tony became a scholar of the Bible. He regularly submitted his book requests, and recently, he shared with his father that God called him to the ministry. Tony was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, paternal grandfather, an uncle, an aunt, and his stepfather. Gone too soon, but Tony's memory will be cherished by his wife Cheryl; sons Tavion and Tino; and daughters Tonilynne, Tianna, Marissa, Andrea and Vanessa; father Rev. Ralph W. Emerson, Jr. (Gladys) of Fort Worth, TX; mother Annie L. Whitson (Frank) of Colorado Springs, CO; sister Deidra Emerson of Fort Worth, TX and brother Rev. Ralph S. Emerson (Chanesia) of Fort Worth, TX and a host of family and friends. Visitation, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 19, 2009, Angelus Funeral Directors, 2535 Airport Road. Funeral service, 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2009, Angelus Funeral Directors. Interment, Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
