Travis Watrous Obituary

Our dearly beloved Travis Dylan Watrous departed this world June 20, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Salt Lake City Utah, August 5, 1983 to Terry E. and Cynthia B. Watrous. He is survived by his mother, Cynthia Pimental of Colorado Springs; his father, Dr. Terry Watrous of Broomfield; and his sister, Dana Watrous of Ft. Collins. Surviving family includes his grandparents, Dean and Rita Butler of Salt Lake City, Utah; Gary Watrous of Duchesne, Utah; and Sharon Hermansen, also of Salt Lake City. Travis was employed by Centura Health, for whom he was the Pre-Clinical Lab Supervisor at Porter Hospital. He was loved and respected by his employees, his supervisors, and the rest of the staff and many patients at Porter, where he had worked for five years. Travis was also a sophomore student at Metro State College, where he maintained a 4.0 GPA while working full-time for Porter. His smile, his wit, his laugh, his intelligence, his love of life, and even more, his compassion, generosity, and willingness to help others will all be greatly missed. Travis loved nature and the outdoors, music, art, and always, the opportunity to learn and experience new things. Most of all, he loved playing and spending time with his dog, Smokey. A memorial and celebration of life will be held at 6:00pm, on Tuesday, June 26, at the Seventh Day Adventist Chapel at the corner of Evans and Downing (2675 S. Downing). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Porter Hospital Foundation in memorial of Travis Watrous -online ( www.porterhospital.org/index.php?s=donations ) or sent to 2525 S. Downing St., Denver, CO, 80210.

Travis and Family,
Words cannot express how jolting the news of Travis' illness and loss. But I can only think of him, my friend, with fondness and joy. We called each other "Spicey Meatballs" and I cherish his friendship and passion for life. He taught many valuable lessons and will continue to do just that. His memorial was beautiful and classy, and I could hear his infectious giggle echoing in the room.
To Cynthia - you did SUCH a good job raising such a stand-up man and friend. Be proud of your strength, Travis' strength and his legacy that will live on with all of us.

Dear Travis,
I couldn't believe the news I got today. I guess we haven't spoken in a long time. It seems like it was only yesterday that we were a couple of kids getting into trouble. I am going to miss you, my brilliant, charming friend.

Travis-
Time passes so quickly. We haven't spoken in years, but I will never ever forget your smile, your laugh or your friendship. I admired the loving and willing way you opened your arms and your mind to everyone who walked into your path. You were always generous, always wonderful to your friends, and will always be remembered by those of us lucky enough to have shared a part of our lives with you. I am deeply saddened to know that you will no longer brighten this world. You will be missed my friend. All my love to you and your family. My regrets for not being able to attend his service. I would like to be there to share and hear memories of Travis with his other friends and family. You will all be in my thoughts.
