Twyla Walter Obituary

Twyla Ann (Hrabe) Walter went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 2, 2014.

Twyla was born in Salina, Kansas on March 28, 1934 to
Stanley and Ester(Detrixhe)Hrabe. She attended Salina High School. She was a cheerleader and loved singing and drama. She met LeRoy Walter her sophomore year and they married after graduation on December 29, 1952.

She studied cosmetology at Salina Beauty Academy and worked as a cosmetologist/stylist throughout her life, owning several salons.

In 1965, LeRoy's civil service job took her and their three
children to Japan, first to Tokyo and then to Misawa. While there Twyla became active in Girl Scouts of America, Far East Council and was awarded the Thanks Badge. She was the
Director for Youth Activities at Misawa Air Force Base. In
Japan she discovered her love for golf.

In 1970 the family returned to the U. S., relocating to Colorado Springs, Colorado, She moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1985 and returned to Colorado Springs in 1990.

In Colorado Springs she was involved in the Patty Niners and the Valley Hi Nines golf clubs and she loved playing with
LeRoy in the 9 hole "above par" league at Valley Hi Golf Course. She was on the Colorado Women's Gold Association Board of Directors for three years and volunteered for
another eight, receiving the Association's Volunteer Award in 2011 for her outstanding work. She loved everything about golf and her golfing friends.

Twyla is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, LeRoy, sons Michael(Kathy) and Danny, daughter Susan Kamlan, her mother Ester, six grandchildren and her six great-grandchildren, Akina, Miliana, Jesse Ruth, Ava, Adeline, and Carter who brought her profound joy in her final days. She loved children and taught Sunday school for forty years.

She especially loved her Savior, family and friends.

Her family wishes to express that we cherish her example of Christ's love as she persevered in prayer and loving service. We are glad that she is in the presence of the Lord along with her three grandchildren who went before. We miss her
dearly and look forward to that day when she will greet us again and welcome us home.

There will be a viewing on Thursday, February 6, 11:00a.m. -1:00p.m. at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3825 Airport Rd, Colorado Springs, CO.

The memorial service for Twyla will be Saturday, February 8, at 10:00a.m. at Living Hope Church, 640 Manitou Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO. A reception will follow the service.

LeRoy,, no one could love Twyla more than you. However, we all loved her and we're blessed to know her. She was wise in so many ways, and all who met and had the honor to know her will always keep her close and forever be changed.

My prayers go out to Twyla's family, especially her husband! I've known Twyla for a lot of years, and every time I was with her, her unending giving spirit was so evident! God used her in so many ways! She believed wholeheartedly that she was to be there for her family and friends, and she was! May God bless all the family in this difficult time!

Whenever I had a golf question, I didn't have to look for her, I just listened for her laugh. Twyla knew more about golf than anyone on Morning Drive! She left some mighty big golf shoes to fill. Twyla always put everyone else first and herself last. Every time I hit a bad shot, I will hear Twyla on my shoulders, saying "Oh honey!" I will miss her more than I could imagine!

Loved Twyla and her knowledge! She single handedly inspired so many people to gain the passion for golf and for The Lord. I personally learned so much from her. I loved the way she would say, "Oh honey!" She will be missed. God has another angel.

Twyla was one of the dearest people I have ever met. She had more life and energy than people half her age. I will miss her so much.

Twyla will be greatly missed by all of her golfing friends in the Patty Niners, the Valley High Nines and the Above Par couples group. If there is a golf course in Heaven, I bet she's on it!
