Tyler Sullivan Obituary

Tyler Thomas Sullivan, age 17, of Colorado Springs, CO, son of Col. Elizabeth Anne West of Colorado Springs, CO and Lt. Col. Shane T. Sullivan of Champaign, IL, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015.

Tyler was born in Cheyenne, WY, October 30, 1997, and was baptized at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in San Antonio, TX. He was an honor student at St. John's Military School in Salina, KS where he was an expert marksman and a member of the Advanced Military Skills Team and had aspirations to become a pilot in the US Air Force. Along with being an excellent cadet, Tyler was also an athlete participating with the school's cross country team, golf team and also enjoyed scuba diving.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his step-father, Col. (Ret.) James Wolf of Colorado Springs, CO; his step-mother, Carol Sullivan of Champaign, IL; a sister, Tierney Sullivan also of Champaign, IL; his maternal grandmother, Sandra Blair West of Union, SC; his maternal-great-grandfather, William "Bill" West of Jonesville; his paternal grandparents, Jane and Ron Yohe of Columbia City, IN and Col. (Ret.) Thomas and Cathy Sullivan of Batesville, IN; his paternal great-grand mother, Marguerite Yohe also of Columbia City, IN; aunts and uncles; Cindy W. May and husband Lt. Col. (Ret.) Dan, Amy W. Garrett and husband Mark, Mitchell West and wife Andrea, Michael West, Jeff Sullivan and wife Amy, Shelley Eberly and husband Brett, Mandy Hartman and husband Nick, and Matthew Sullivan. Tyler was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Billy Wayne West.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Thursday, April, 9, 2015 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel in Union, SC, conducted by Father Sean Ferrell. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 4:00 PM Thursday at the chapel prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Society For the Prevention of Teen Suicide, 110 W. Main St., Freehold, NJ, 07728 (www.sptsusa.org) or to the ASPCA, 520 8th Ave, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10018 (www.aspca.org).

The family will be at the home of his grandmother, Sandra B. West, 465 Haney Cemetery Rd., Union, SC 29379.

Tyler was special and although he hoped to be an Air Force pilot some day nothing can match the wings he has now--wings of an angel. He now flies in constant vigilance over the ones he loves. You will be missed Tyler. God bless you.
