Valerie Carmona Obituary

October 27, 1950 - November 7, 2008
Valerie Lynn Carmona, age 58, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1977 and formerly of Wichita, Kansas passed away on Friday, November 7, 2008 at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs. She was a Taxpayer Service Representative for the Internal Revenue Service. Valerie Lynn Miller was born on October 27, 1950 in Parsons, Kansas. After high school, she married John Acuna Carmona on July 24, 1976 in Girard, Kansas. She was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers Auxiliary serving at the both the local and state levels. She was of the Catholic faith and very much loved spending time with her grandchildren and family. She also enjoyed reading and weekend nature trips to the mountains. She is survived by her loving husband: John A. Carmona; her daughter: Melissa Ann Carmona and her sons: John Wesley Carmona and Andrew Alfonso Carmona; all of Colorado Springs. She is also survived by her parents: Clarice and John Miller of Girard; her brother: Alan (wife, Patty) Miller of Girard; and her 4 sisters: Donna Woolman of Monkey Island, Oklahoma; Lisa (husband, Jerry) Franklin; Janet Miller; and Joyce Lord; all of Girard. Valerie has four grandchilren: Jessica Lynn, Chyann Hope, Alexander Lee, and Johnathon Michael Carmona. Also surviving her are several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. Catholic Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel of Roses. Private inurnment will be at the Pope John Paul II Memorial Columbarium. Memorials may be made in memory to Breast Cancer Awareness in care of the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure, P.O. Box 9670, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80932.
