Vera Cohrs Obituary

Vera "Lois" Cohrs, 87, of Los Angeles, CA formerly of Colorado Springs was born March 12, 1922 in Las Aminas, CO to James Franklin Staley and Alta Mae (Johnson) Staley and passed away January 5, 2010. Lois was born and raised in Southeastern Colorado, and was a resident of the Colorado Springs area for many years. She is a descendant of the Owens family. She recently moved to Los Angeles, CA in 2005 where she resided with her son, Rick. Lois was a loving homemaker who was cherished by her entire family. She was a very active and energetic member of the First Christian Church in Colorado Springs for many years. Lois was driven by her strong religious faith, and the church with all its activities. She was a member and past President of several clubs/associations within the church. Lois enjoyed traveling and going out on weekends for dining and dancing with Elray. Lois touched the lives of many people with her quick smile, positive attitude and warm generosity. She will be greatly missed by her devoted and loving family and her many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband; Elray Cohrs, and children; Bill Leiphardt, Chuck, Wayne and Jim Cohrs; and brother, Loren Johnson. Lois is survived by her children, Gene Cohrs, Ken Cohrs, Peggy Bontrager (Joseph), and Rick Leiphardt (Peggy); sister, Jean Smith (Gordon); 27 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 13 great great grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday, January 11, 2010 at Evergreen Funeral Home Chapel, 1830 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, Colorado. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at the First Christian Church, 16 E. Platte Ave. Colorado Springs, Colorado. Interment will immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor to the Lois Cohrs Memorial Fund at the First Christian Church.
