Vern Ehrlichman Obituary

Vern Ehrlichman died peacefully January 14 surrounded by his family at home. Born in Pittsburgh April 13, 1922 to Kathryn and Ted Ehrlichman, Vern was known for his adventuresome spirit and vivacity toward life. He was retired from a rich and varied career ranging from photography to working for the H.J. Heinz Company in Pittsburgh before relocating to Colorado. He and his wife celebrated their 60th anniversary in June with family and friends and have enjoyed being with their son and grandchildren in Colorado Springs since 1991. Appreciating each moment he was given, Vern exhibited true compassion and love to everyone he encountered and is remembered for his entertaining stories and unshakable devotion and faith in Christ. He is survived by his wife, Ann; son, Ted Ehrlichman (Colleen McBride), grandchildren: Mike Ehrlichman (Jennifer Karolick), Kathleen Thurber, Jennifer Boe and Mark Thurber; his great-grandchildren: Gunner Patrick and Kailea Taylor, all of Colorado Springs; his brother, John Ehrlichman of Salem, VA, and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews in Pittsburgh. His mother and dad preceded him in death. Memorial Services will be held for family in Colorado Springs and Pittsburgh. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gateway Presbyterian Church, 731 Castle Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80904.

Vern Ehrlichman was a wonderously kind and gentle man who had a significant and profound impact on my life and marriage.I see my Uncle walking into the Light, with Thunder, Rover and Samantha wagging their tails in welcome. As he looks ahead and says, "It certainly is good to be here".

I strongly believe his presence will always be felt to those he loved...a better Guardian Angel no one could ever have.

Ann, I was so sorry to read that Vern passed on. I will always remember him telling me when you lived in Pgh., after he retired, he'd see the smoke stacks on the Heinz bldg. and wondered how the heck Heinz could still be in business and still operating without him. I always think of him when I encounter another 'retiree' who is having an 'adjustment' period to retirement. I miss you Ann. May God take care of you and yours.

Dear Aunt Ann, Ted, Colleen, Michael, Jennifer, Kathleen and Mark,

Our sympathy to you on the loss of this great man. How fortunate we were to be with you and Uncle Vern in June. I have many wonderful memories of him, and I'm sure my dad was one of the first to welcome him to Heaven.

Love and prayers,

Skip and Susie
