Vern Jensen Obituary

Vern passed away at his home February 24, 2011. He was 94 years young. Vern was born in Claire, Iowa on June 11, 1916 to James and Emma Jensen. He was married to Eldora Christensen on October 29, 1943. Eldora passed away February 4,2000. He is survived by Myrna (Terry) Smith, Douglas and Gregory Jensen. Grandchildren, Christopher, Robyn (Brook) Neva, Nathan, Brian, and Marcus. Great grandchildren, Riley, Brennen, Keegan, Tannar and Myranda, his sister Fern (Walter) Jackson and very special friend Betty Murray. Vern is preceded in death by his sister Violet and brother Rusty. Vern served in the Army during World War II, farmed in Iowa, upon moving to Colorado he worked as a cosmetologist and instructor, retiring from the City of Colorado Springs Park and Recreation Department. Vem and Eldora were square dancers and volunteers. He served 27 years as an ESM Volunteer, 15 years with Golden Circle Nutrition Program. His hobbies were woodworking projects especially bird houses. Visitation will be March 3rd, 3 to 7 pm at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be March 4th, 1 pm at First Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Lutheran Church or your favorite charity. He will be missed by a multitude of people. He was a very fine gracious man, husband, father and friend.
