To the children and family of Ms. Griggs,
I'm am so sorry to here about the loss of your mother. Even though she is having a home going, there will always be that feeling of loss when you think of the "Remember when's". Of seeing her smile, feeling her touch, having her love and you being able to show her your love. My last memory of her were in the days when I was a young member of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church, when it was on Wasatch between Platt and Boulder, and I was part of our great youth choir (smile). How she would look at us if we were to loud, expecially in the balcony. And for me, how she was one of the enforcer mom's, if any of us didn't act the way you were expected to act in God's house, she would let you know it. I later left town. I do have the momories of Debra, Hal, Everett. A long with Rene Johnson,Sara and Pat Brown,Gail and Theresa LaTour,Shirley and Mildred Felder, the list could go on of the people I was blessed to meet through the church. I smile when thinking at those times, our youth and the people. Your mom was one of them. Yes she will be sadly and fondly missed, but think of how happy she is now. Hold on to one another and continue to thank the lord for your many blessings.

To the Griggs Family,
My prayers are with you at this time, but know that God is still in control and lean on him to provide you with the strength that you will need. PM Griggs you will be dearly missed in chapter meetings, as you provided the younger sisters with good counsel and wisdom. You served in many capacities and offices within OES, and I can say personally that I learned a lot from you. Missing you already.

At a time of loss sometimes words are hard to express. Auntie V.L. as she told us to call her, came into our lives many years ago. We had the pleasure of being with her doing the Home Going of all Uncle Burlond, her friend. We all fell in love with each other. We will forever remember her. Keep the faith don't give up. Everette and Family:

I was sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. Sister Griggs was the first person to train me in a ministry which came to be my first love - ushering. Hers was always one of the faces I looked for whenever I came home. Although it is now your time to mourn, know that your time to dance will soon follow and we will dance with you in celebration of her life. In all things, to God be the glory for the great things He has done.

Dear Griggs Family,

We are so sorry to hear of your loss. Mrs. Griggs was always kind and very loving towards me and my family. There’s comfort in knowing that God promises that, "... to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” Mrs. Griggs was a faithful woman of God and great is her reward. When I was in Jr. High School, your mom was the first person to greet me when I received Christ. It was a night service on Wahsatch. The pastor had opened the doors of the church. I was wrestling with what to do and by the time I had made a decision, the pastor had ended the service, and church began to let out. As the congregation was leaving I started walking towards the front. She smiled at me, (a mature woman of God; not in a hurry to leave church when the service was over) asked me if I wanted to receive Christ? I said, “Yes.” She put her arm around me and called the church back, and called the pastor back. She said, “Pastor we have one.” A true testament to her spiritual maturity. It was an honor and privilege to have known your mom. She was an outstanding example and truly one of God’s great saints.

In Jesus,

We were so sorry to hear of Sis Griggs journey to her new home. She was quite an inspiration to our family, while we were worshipping at Emmanuel. She taught our daughters the importance of being great ushers!! She will be missed, but we relish in the memories of having known her. May God bless you and comfort you during this period in your life.

I was very sad to hear of Ms Griggs' passing, but then I thought again and remembered that she and my mother have been preparing for this all of thier lives. I remember years ago that Ms. Griggs made sure that Hal and I behaved and she would report to Mother Williams (Blanche) if I had to be corrected or that she had taken care of it. She will be missed and I will always love her and remember that she helped to shape Hal, Ken Wynn, and myself into the men we are today and we all would like to say thank you. God bless and remember she is at rest and in good company.
