Vickie L. Barnes Obituary

Vickie L. Barnes, 61, of Dixon, died Thursday, September 1, 2016, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was a Correctional Officer and later a Behavior Analyst with the State Department of Corrections in Missouri.

Vickie was born March 8, 1955, in Marshalltown, IA, the daughter of Donald and Mary Lou (Gear) Barnes. She enjoyed bowling, reading and making floral arrangements.

She is survived by her three children, Michelle (Phillip) Sterba of Oglesby, Rick Lowe of Franklin Grove, and Trisha (Jason) Carter of Ashton; five siblings, Donita (Raymond) Pfahl of Boardman, OH, Michael Barnes of Fountain, CO, Henry (Lisa) Barnes of Stover, MO, Marla (Javier) Puente of Kansas City, MO, and Colleen (Wally) Garza of Dixon; and five grandchildren, Alexis and Michael Lowe, Laura Paul, Nathaniel Ramirez, and Noah Carter.

Vickie was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Mary Lou Barnes, her niece Erin Allen; and her companion, Chuck Beardin.

Visitation and Services were on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Ltd., Dixon, with Rev. Ferrell Stauffer, pastor, Ashton Bible Church, officiating.

A memorial has been established to Serenity Hospice, Oregon, IL.

Preston-Schilling Funeral Home of Dixon is handling funeral arrangements.
