Victor Brown Obituary

Victor R. Brown, beloved husband, father, and brother, passed away on April 22, 2015 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born in Coquille, Oregon October 20, 1960. He was the youngest of 4 children born to the late Eugene and Dorothy Brown.

Victor joined the US Army right out of High School. He served his Country for 22 years. He served honorably as a Green Beret, assigned to the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and wore his Green Beret for over 18 years. During his long career, he had many deployments overseas and was also an Instructor at Camp McCall, North Carolina (Green Beret training).

He received the Army Commendation Medal (2nd award), Army Achievement Medal (2nd award), Meritorious Service Medal, Army Superior Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal and he was most proud of his Expert Marksmanship badge (rifle and pistol).

As a civilian he continued to serve his Country, working overseas as a contractor, he served in Kosovo and Afghanistan where he worked alongside US Marines.

He loved being a Soldier and loved shooting, hunting, fly fishing, jumping out of planes, mountain biking, skiing, ice climbing, mountaineering, 4wheeling. Victor also loved cooking, especially pancakes and Finnish Pannakakku.

He leaves behind Videlia (Vee)-his wife of 29 years-his daughter Christina-who he had the joy of walking down the aisle this past October-and his brothers Greg and Gary.

I met Victor because he was friends with my best friend's husband (Norman and Sandy Mansfield). Victor and I became friends because I am a Veterans' widow and he respected my husband. When something bad happened to me and I was afraid, they all came up to my home. Victor stayed by my side with my dog Rosco (English Mastiff and friend of Victor's.) Victor kept me calm and assured me he would not let anyone hurt me. He did this not only for his friend Norman, but out of respect for my husband.

I felt safe around Victor, I know he was protective of me because my husband was his Brother in Arms who both served their country for 22 years. One of the things I loved most about Victor was that he would always say hi to my dogs before me. He was a great man who respected other people. My heart goes out to his wife and daughter because I know the pain of losing both husband and father. I did not know Victor a long time, but his military ways, his compassion for others and his love of English Mastiffs made me love him as a life long friend. I feel sorry for the whole world because we have all lost a great man and those are few and far between.

Victor was a great friend. He was there when needed and we never tired of the stories he could tell. Our dogs were always in heaven when he came to visit for, as he called it, "his doggie fix". We will miss the fun times shared with Victor; only wish there could have been many more. We will cherish the memories. Good-bye our friend.

Vic Brown and were in the first group of ITT/G4 Force Protection at Camp Bondsteel in 2003. He was a straight up guy. I thought he was nuts for bicycling up and down the big mountain, Brezovica.
Rest easy.
