Vickie was my cousin and when she was growing up, my family ( the Bowers) would drive up from Illinois every summer ( almost every summer) and visit all of our cousins. My mother was Evie’s sister ( Evie had 3 wonderful sisters with their own personalities) and we had s lot of relatives. We would visit Evie, Mel, Vickie, Dave, Bruce , and Mary where they lived ( Luverne and Sioux Falls) and also at Gramma’s farm, where everyone always visited. When we stayed in Luverne or Sioux Falls with the Vatland family, we had a lot of good times. Vickie was a sweet girl ( she was three and a half years younger than me, but she was always mature and well behaved for her age. She was fashionable too. I remember when she first started learning to play guitar and her fingers got calloused. We went to movies in Luverne and went to the Fourth of July carnival and later the fireworks. . Lots aid wonderful childhood memories abnd I’ll always remember a young, adorable, and sweet little cousin with an infectious laugh. She loved to laugh! Will miss her!
