Vincent Fretterd Obituary

Vincent "Scruff" Fretterd passed away on Thursday, May 9th at his home in Woodland Park, Colorado. Scruff was born October 12, 1955 to James Fretterd and Helen Kane in Poughkeepsie, New York. He was lovingly raised by his foster mother, Helen Price. Scruff moved to Colorado Springs in the summer of 1974. He met and later married Michelle Stowers, of Colorado Springs, Colorado. They were together for 34 years and were long-time residents of Woodland Park, where Michelle continues to live. Scruff is survived by his wife, Shelly and their "kids" (four legged); brother, Richard Fretterd of Woodland Park, Colorado; sisters: Patty Bennett of Cape Coral, Florida; Ellen Kane of Menlo Park, California; Caryol Ann Miller of Syracuse, New York; Liz Holden of Woonsocket, Rhode Island; Cher Wolf of Tampa Bay, Florida; and a long list of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. Scruff worked for many years in the construction business as well as becoming an accomplished motorcycle mechanic. He loved working on any vintage motorcycle. He particularly liked Harleys, Indians and other "dinosaurs," as he called them. His motto was "do it right or don't do it at all." Scruff leaves behind a legacy of always doing the right thing for his friends. He had a reputation of helping those in need. His generosity, offbeat humor and unique personality will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His celebration of life will be announced at a later date. It's a sad day that Scruff passed. We will miss his cheerful greeting that he always had for a friend, even calling us old wrinkled gals "beautiful". We will miss you, Scruffy.
