Viola Frances Bloxom, 88, of Colorado Springs, CO passed peacefully on November 5, 2024 at Springs Ranch Memory Care under the care of Gentiva Hospice.
Viola was born March 18, 1936 in Lone Wolf, OK to Charlie and Reba (Foster) Carlton. She grew up in the panhandle of NW Texas. While attending school in Dumas, TX she enjoyed playing sports, especially volleyball and basketball. Later in life she was an avid sports fan, especially football.
Viola met her husband Roy L. Bloxom in Dumas and they were married May 23, 1953. They enjoyed 42 years together before Roy's passing in 1995. While Roy was in the U.S. Army they lived in Virginia Beach, VA. Here, their first son (Woodrow) was born and died at birth. After Roy was discharged they moved back to TX where their next two sons Ed (1958) and Sam (1960) were born. Viola's daughter Jerrie was born in 1968 before the family moved to Colorado Springs. The family often travelled back to TX to visit friends and relatives.
In 2000, Viola married William Alvin King.
Viola enjoyed attending church and was able to continue bible study and sing alongs to the end, at Springs Ranch.
Viola was predeceased by her mother and father, brother Charles, sister Pauline, baby son Woodrow, and son Ed.
Viola is survived by son Sam Bloxom, daughter-in-law Lynn Jennings-Bloxom, daughter Jerrie Downing, son-in-law Gary Downing, and estranged husband Wm. Alvin King.
A memorial service is planned for 2 PM December 16, 2024 at Heart of the Springs Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in Viola's name.
The family would like to thank Springs Ranch Memory Care and Gentiva Hospice for the exceptional care they provided Viola.
