Viola Mary Abila Obituary

Viola Abila has been called to heaven at the age of 86. Viola passed away from cancer on January 3, 2012 in her home in Colorado Springs, surrounded by family. Viola will be lovingly missed by her husband, Toby Abila; sister, Francis Valdez (Mike); children: Barbara Wieker, Virginia Lapp (Ira), Bernice Leonard, Debbie Hellweg (Tim) and Vern Abila (Tammy); her grandchildren, who were the light of her life: Brad Wieker (Allison), Stephanie Vasquez (Marcos), Justin De La Fuente (Roslyn), Casey and Toby Leonard and Ashley Hellweg; and five great-grandchildren: Jennifer and Devin Vasquez, Tyce De La Fuente, Brad (LB) and Luke Wieker. Viola was preceded in death by her daughter, Anita Marie Abila; her brothers: Vincent, Gilbert and Tony Casados; and her parents, Juan and Juanita Casados. Viola loved spending time with family and special neighbors that she always had time and a smile for. We have all experienced mom's gift of uncompromising love and joy for life. Mom encouraged us to be who we are and taught us the importance of family. Viola truly touched the lives of all those who have known her. Most of all, Viola truly enjoyed being a mother, grandmother and friend. We would like to extend our deepest thanks and gratitude for the loving care and support from Odyssey Hospice, Laura, Jessica, and Pastor Mike who had a unique way of making her smile a little each day. A visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, January 6, 2012 with a funeral service to follow at 10:00 a.m. all at Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery.

To all of my dear cousins and Uncle. I am so sorry to hear about your mom, my aunt and my dear Uncle's wife and love of his life. She was a wonderful woman, kind, considerate, thoughtful and caring. My prayers go out to all of you and know that she is no longer suffering. Yes she will be missed, but keep in mind there is ever lasting life and I am sure she will be there. God Bless all of you. Life brings many tears, smiles and memories. The tears eventually dry and the smiles fade, but the memories live forever.
May you find comfort in knowing that your Mother is now safe in God's embrace, dancing with little sister Anita and reuniting with lost family and friends.
I pray for the entire Abila Family in this time of sorrow.
With deepest sympathy,
Johnny
