Violet Behm Obituary

Violet Behm, age 79, a resident of Colorado Springs since June of 1965, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2016 at her son's home in Colorado Springs, surrounded by her loving family. She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.

Violet Carrolyn Smith was born on April 20,1936 in Holly, Colorado to the late Elmore Brewster and Naomi Ester (Cole) Smith. She attended schools in Holly and graduated from High School there. She was a beautiful and talented young lady who was nominated Homecoming Queen for several years and was a cheerleader.

She married John Robert Behm on August 7, 1955 in Raton, New Mexico. This marriage was later solemnized at the LDS Temple in Salt Lake City in June of 1965.

The couple lived in Holly for a number of years and then moved to Colorado Springs where they raised a large family of children and later, grandchildren. She worked for a brief time for District 11 Schools and SCI. She loved caring for her grandchildren, cooking, gardening, sewing and was an avid Broncos football fan. She will be best remembered for her kindness and generosity.

She is survived by her husband, John; her sons; John R. (Susan) Behm, Jr. of Lehi, Utah; Randall (Shelli) Behm of Colorado Springs; Christopher (Carol) Behm of Colorado Springs; and Michael (Ashley) Behm of Colorado Springs. She is also survived by her daughter: Carrolyn Behm of Garland, Utah.

Violet is also survived by her brother; Vernon (Bobbie) Smith of Lamar, Colorado; twenty-five grandchildren and thirty-five great-grandchildren.

Visitation, 1:00PM-2:00PM, Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 150 Pine Avenue, Colorado Springs, followed by the Funeral Service at 2:000PM.

Graveside Service, 1:00PM, Monday, January 18, 2016 at the Holly Cemetery in Holly, Colorado.
