Violet Young Obituary

Violet May Young, our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away May 8, 2016 in the care of her grand daughter, Jennifer Jones. She lived a very fulfilled life of 90 years. She was a businesswoman; owner of Young's Furniture, Furniture Rentals and Sales, alongside her husband, Wayne, and sons, Ron and Lonnie since 1964. In 1974 Ron's wife (Debi) joined them.

Violet grew up in Hebron, Nebraska where she graduated from Hebron high school in 1943. She was married in 1944 to the boy that sent her love letters when she was six years old and he (Wayne N. Young) was ten. They were married 67 years when her husband preceded her in death in 2012.

She loved to travel the world, which included the Azores, Australia, Europe, and China. She always loved her trips to Las Vegas. When she was younger she sang with Sweet Adeline's and was always on a bowling league.

She was a woman of integrity, generosity and always showed compassion to those she knew and those she did not. Violet was always a part of her children and grandchildren's lives. She brought meaning to the following quote: "Love is just a word until someone comes along and gives it meaning." We were fortunate to be loved by Violet.

Violet leaves behind four children, Mary Mercer, Ronald (Debi) Young, Karen (Robert) Branch, and Lonnie; Her 8 Grandchildren Jonette Asher (John), Jennifer (James) Jones, Brandon (Amanda) Vanderwalker, Michael (Jane) Young, Shannon (Shawn) Redinger, Mathew (Chelsea) Young, Kevin Branch, Sharie Branch; 12 Great Grand Children Carrissa, Zachary, Clayton, Josiah, Brayden, Lexi, Michael, Connor, Ariella , Audrey, Owen, and Elle.

Our entire Family would like to extend our greatest gratitude to Interim Hospice and Daniell who lovingly cared for our Mother and Grandmother over the past year.

Visitation will be on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View Mortuary located at 2350 Montebello Square, Colorado Springs, CO 80919. The celebration of Violet's life will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m.
