Virgil Kilby Obituary

Virgil Kilby Virgil Kilby of Tulare, at age 96, passed away Friday, March 2, 2012. He worked for over 50 years as a field representative for Gibson's Irrigation Systems until the age of 92. He enjoyed spending his time with family as a proud father and grandfather, loyal husband, and devoted friend. Virgil had a very strong work ethic, and he was very dedicated to his career and to his family whom he valued greatly. Virgil had a keen mind and sense of humor, even at the end of his days. He brought warmth and joy into the lives of many. He was born to Thomas and Ella Kilby on December 16, 1915, in Tecumseh, Oklahoma, the eldest of eight children, but lived most of his life in Tulare, California. In January of 1975 he married the love of his life, Mary Luiz. He is survived by his wife Mary; his children Elden Kilby and Brenda O'Daniel; his sister Joan Witt; grandchildren Jessica Wertz, Caroline Kilby, and Christopher Kilby; and great-grandchildren; and Mary's grandchildren Ryan Pacheco, Kymberly Pacheco, and Donald Luiz; great-grandchild, and loving daughter, Dale Pacheco. Visitations will be held Thursday, March 8th from 12:00-8:00 p.m. at Peers Lorentzen Funeral Services (132 West Kern Avenue, Tulare, CA 93274). The funeral service will be Friday, March 9th at 1:00 p.m. at Peers Lorentzen Funeral Services. Graveside services will follow after the funeral at Tulare District Cemetery (900 E. Kern Avenue, Tulare, CA 93274). A reception will follow after the graveside services and will be held at the Claude Meitzenheimer Community Center (830 S. Blackstone St., Tulare, CA 93274).
