Virginia Benson Obituary

Virginia Elizabeth Benson of Colorado Springs passed away at home December 1, 2006.She was born in Stillwater Oklahoma on March 25, 1919 to Robert and Bina Jarrell. She came to Pueblo Colorado in 1935 and made her home with an aunt and uncle and graduated from Centennial High School. After graduating from Pueblo College she went to work for New York Life Insurance Company. Virginia was a past president of her PEO Chapter, past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star in Pueblo and a member of the Heritage China Painters Club.In addition Virginia enjoyed many volunteer hours at First Lutheran Church. On November 24, 1946 Virginia married Raymond Benson in Pueblo Colorado. During their marriage they lived in Denver and later settled in Colorado Springs. Raymond preceded her in death in 1984. She is survived by her daughter LouAnne of Colorado Springs, a brother Ford Jarrell of Tulsa Oklahoma and numerous cousins. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Robert Jr. and William. Memorial Service will be Thursday December 7th at 11:00 and First Lutheran Church 1515 North Cascade Colorado Springs, CO 80903.Graveside service will take place at Mountain View Cemetery in Pueblo, Colorado at 2:30 PM following the memorial service. There will not be visitation.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church in Virginia's name or to the Shriners Crippled Children Fund or to the charity of ones choice.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of you. I am so blessed to have known Virginia and such a devoted daughter, LouAnne. Virginia was such a brave person and is now in a place where she will not have anymore pain. I am certain that trait will pass down to all of you. Be strong and God Bless you all.
