Virginia Frizzell Obituary

Virginia Earp Lewis Frizzell, a longtime resident of Colorado Springs, passed away peacefully at home on May 24, 2007 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on February 10, 1918 in Norristown, PA to Ted Lewis and Mary (Famous) Lewis who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her first husband, John B. Harry, her eldest son David Markley Harry, and her second husband Virgin A. Frizzell. She is survived by her daughter Judith Laine (Bruce) of Salinas, CA and her son John C. Harry of Colorado Springs. Also surviving are three grandsons, Todd R. Harry, Whitney Snow, David Snow, and three great grandchildren.Ginny grew up in Norristown, PA where she was high school sweetheart of John Harry who she married at age 18. She and John had a long marriage that took them through many adventures. They lived in Hasting-on-Hudson, NY, and then built their own home in the countryside of Greenwich, CT. From there they moved to overseas to Lausanne, Switzerland, where Ginny truly fell in love with the country. They then returned to the USA and resided in Salinas, CA until John's death. Virginia met and married Virgil Frizzell in Salinas and they later moved to Colorado Springs to be near family.Ginny (Called Emma by her family) loved horseback riding which she took up as a grandmother, and continued as an accomplished equestrian into her 80's. For many years she participated in the Salinas rodeo parade riding horseback, one year winning Best in Rodeo as part of the matched pair competition. She loved golf, knitting, gourmet cooking, and entertaining. She has been a member of Grace Church and St. Stephens since moving to Colorado Springs. Ginny was also active for years with the Boot Scooters dancing organization and also participated in a local line dancing club. She loved traveling and in her lifetime saw a lot of the world. She traveled to all of the USA, Switzerland, France, United Kingdom, Ireland, Scotland, Italy, Morocco, Egypt, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Slovakia, Greece, Turkey, Israel, and Lebanon. While living in Switzerland, she learned fluent French and used to conduct all her affairs in French. She had a great deal of fun and some real humorous experiences until she learned correct pronunciation. Ginny made many friends in her lifetime who will keenly feel her absence. Her family wishes to thank Evercare Hospice and right at Home Agency for the loving care given to Virginia during her final days. Memorial contributions may be made to Evercare Hospice. A Celebration of life service will be held at Grace church and St. Stephen's., 601 N. Tejon on Friday, June 1st, at 2:00 p.m.

For the short time I knew and cared for Virginia, she touched my heart with her warmth and grace. My prayers and thoughts to her family, and to Jack and Jane, who gave so much love and care to Virginia as she made her journey home.

Ginny and I had many, many wonderful horseback rides through the hills of Toro Park and Fort Ord. There are many memories of our horseback riding adventures...and I do mean adventures! I will miss her. My heartfelt thoughts go out to her family during this time.
