Virginia Walker Obituary

Virginia Walker passed away in Colorado Springs surrounded by family and friends on May 23, 2017. She was 92.

For 67 years, she was the beloved wife of William Lee Walker. She always was the loving mother to Karen Sue Riggle and her husband Don Riggle. Her father Samuel Paris Colburn, her mother Nancy Risley Colburn, her brothers Buford Colburn, William Howard Colburn and her husband William Walker preceded her in death.

Virginia was born on November 26, 1924. She grew up on a farm in Washington County Arkansas. She graduated from Cane Hill High School where she was valedictorian. She received a scholarship to Business College in Fayetteville, Arkansas and after completion of school she became a bank teller.

In 1945, she married William Lee Walker and after his completion of watchmaking school they moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico.

She then dedicated her life to caring for her family and friends.

She was a long time member of Monte Vista Christian Church in Albuquerque and attended First Christian Church after their move to Colorado Springs in 2012.

She was a beautiful, graceful, and intelligent woman, loving mother, devoted wife, sister and friend. She made a timeless and indelible mark on those she met. She will be deeply missed.

The family would like to thank the staff and professionals at Brookdale Skyline assisted living and hospice for their care and support.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday June 8th 2017 at 1:30 pm at First Christian Church, 16 E. Platte Ave. Colorado Springs Colorado 80905. Virginia will be buried at a later date the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, 610 Abbott Lane. Colorado Springs, Colorado 80905.
