Vyolet Chu Obituary

I am very privileged to have known & had the opportunity to work with Vyolet at Eliza´s Artistic Flower Shop. She was indeed an extraordinary & indomitable woman! We hit it off right away... I wonder if having the same birthdate, "The Ides of March" had anything to do with it?

During the years we worked together, many times I would give her a ride home to Hayward, I lived in San Leandro at the time. Vyolet would regale me with her life stories, many of which was mentioned in her obituary. She was an incredibly selfless woman, always thinking of others & their wellbeing. It is no wonder why she was held in such high esteem "Vyolet Chu Day" what a well deservedhonor!

Vyolet loved her family & was so proud of you all, I could hear it in her voice as she would share about how intelligent you all are & your accomplishments. I am sure you all are very proud of her as well.
In her 101 years, she has accomplished much to make this world a better place for many! She will be greatly missed!

As I was looking through a book of poems from Helen Steiner Rice, I came across this poem that reminds me so much of both Vyolet.
 
The Joy of Unselfish Giving
 
"Time is not measured
by the years that you live
But by the deeds that you do
and the joy that you give-
And each day as it comes

or lighten the load

Dear Dorinne, Alan and family, I am sending my deepest condolences to you all! We have certainly lost a good friend, an inspiration, a committed community leader! She had set a great example for all of us! She will always hold a place in my heart! I shall remember her advice, her selfless contributions, her love, her stories of her most interesting life! Rest in peace my dear friend!

We always enjoyed listening to Vyolet lifelong contributions i´m helping so many people and fundraising for so many organizations.
Vyolet got so much joy out of helping other people and that´s what made her such a unique and wonderful person.
Vyolet will always have his special place in our hearts and we were very lucky to have shared part of our life with her
