W.D. Norvell Obituary

W.D. "Dwain" Norvell, a lifetime resident of the Pikes Peak region, passed away on July 31, 2015 at the Bruce McCandless Colorado Veteran's Community Living Center in Florence, Colorado.

W.D. was born on November 29, 1918 in Monument, Colorado to Cleve and Esther Norvell. He was 96 years old.

W.D. married Dorothy Shellenberger on June 24, 1944, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his two sons, Jerry (Darlene) Norvell of Rifle, Colorado and David (Rosemary) Norvell of Colorado Springs; three grandsons, a granddaughter as well as several nieces and nephews.

W.D. served in the Naval Construction Battalions for many years and was an equipment operator for contractors, also retired from the Colorado Springs Utilities Water Department.

He was a graduate of Falcon High School, class of 1937.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the givers choice.

Prayers to David & Jerry and the family. Your Dad and I were in the Seabees together, I have many memories of operating heavy equipment and learning from chief Norvell as I knew him. Rest in peace my friend.
