W. Smith Obituary

June 1, 1938 - October 21, 2008 W. Kay (Christensen) Smith, our dearly loved mother, grandmother, sister, wife and friend went to Our Father on October 21, 2008. Kay was born on June 1, 1938 in Laramie, WY to Elizabeth (Cady) Christensen & Raymond H. Christensen. She attended school in both Laramie & Casper, WY. and was married on September 1, 1956 to Don Greenlee in Casper, WY. Kay brightened the world with her smile and was quick to offer a kind word, warm hug and open heart. She often had a glint of fun-filled mischief in her eyes as she teased friends and family. She was a devout Christian Scientist, endlessly studying the Bible and Science & Health. She had a very creative soul and was a talented artist, seamstress, homemaker, and a constant supporter of her Children. Kay worked as an "Avon Lady" then an Avon District Manager for many years. She then worked for the Christian Science Monitor both in Boston, MA and California where she was the Advertising & Marketing Manager. In 1995, Kay married Herschel Smith and retired in Colorado Springs, CO. Kay is survived by her devoted Husband, Herschel Smith of Woodland Park, her Daughter Joy Greenlee-Briarton & Grand Daughter Alexandra, and Son Scott Greenlee, all of Colorado Springs, her Son John and Daughter-in-law Randi (Dahl) Greenlee & Grand Daughters Britt & Maila of Bocholt Germany; and her Brother Lew Christensen of Colorado Springs. The Family is deeply grateful for the kind people at the Life Care Center who lovingly cared for Kay over the past 7 years. In lieu of flowers the Family is asking for contributions to the Alzheimer's Association in her memory at 2315 Bott Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80904.
