Walter Gerard Obituary

Walter L. Gerard Sr. 66, loving husband, Dad, Grandpa, (Paw Paw) and Great-Grandpa, died April 23, 2007 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Walt was born on January 5, 1941 to Elaine and Charles Whitaker in Peoria, IL. Walt attended Bradley University and was their star center with their basketball program. Walt married Jackie Wiley on February 20, 1960. They just celebrated their 47th Wedding anniversary. Walt and Jackie have three sons, Walter Jr. (Renee), Danny (Tracey) and Michael (Meg) all of Colorado Springs, CO. Walt spent the first 41 years of his life in the Midwest, but after retiring from Pabst Brewing Company, he moved to Colorado Springs. Walt took special pride in the fact they he was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. All the children knew Walt as Paw Paw. Walt was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoors man. Walt knew where the true Blue and Orange came from and was a dedicated Chicago Bears fan along with the Chicago Cubs. Walt was preceded in death by his loving mother, Elaine and his two favorite uncles, Bud and Leonard. Per his request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial account has been set up in Walter L. Gerard Sr.'s name with ENT Federal Credit Union. Walt's family would also like to convey their deepest gratitude to Pikes Peak Hospice and to all of our extended family and friends for their compassion and support.
