Walter Johnson Obituary

Walter Paul Johnson
January 3, 1935
December 19, 2023

Walter Paul Johnson passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 19th, just shy of his 89th birthday. Paul was born on January 3rd, 1935 in Pueblo, Colorado, to Swede and Margarite Johnson. He is survived by his wife Judy, sister Marilyn, sons Kevin (Alexandra) and Keith (Franzi), and 7 grandchildren.
He grew up in Colorado Springs where he attended Colorado Springs High School and had a close-knit group of lifelong friends. He attended the University of Denver and then joined the Air Force as an air traffic controller. Returning to Colorado Springs, he worked for his father at Hutchinson Battery. It was while working there that a young woman, Judy Seale, caught his eye at a nearby coffee shop. After a year courtship the two married and had two sons, Kevin & Keith. Paul became a sales representative at Premier Autoware, traveling around the region selling automotive hardware. In the summers, he would take his sons with him on his trips, teaching them how he built relationships with customers that lasted for decades. He worked at Premier for 34 years until he retired.
If you could put Paul's life into one word, that word would be "Present". He was always there for his family: making meals, playing games, baking pies or greeting his kids when they got home from school. He loved to work with his hands and would never hesitate to help with woodworking projects, throwing a ball around or fixing a car. He was the cub scout troop master and the senior warden for his church. He was a leader in his community and was always willing to rise to any challenge. He was a true prayer warrior. Paul and Judy travelled around the world extensively, most recently going to Belize with his wife, sons and grandchildren.
A Celebration of Paul's life will be held on January 3rd at 2:00 at the International Anglican Church at 1305 N. Union St. A reception will follow directly after. In lieu of flowers please consider contributing to Crossfire Ministries https://www.crossfireministries.org/donate

Judy, Keith, Kevin and your families -- I am so sorry for your loss. Paul was a wonderful man. I have fond memories of him at all the elope parties. Warm and easy to talk to. Always with a smile on his face. I'm grateful to have gotten to know him and enjoy his company. I know he'll be missed by all.
