Walter Means Obituary

Walter E. Means, Jr. passed away on July 14, 2007 in Colorado Springs, Colorado where he had been a resident for the past 51 years. On April 7, 1921 Walt was born to Walter E. and Dorothy (Coleman) Means, Sr. in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. He married Miss Helyn L. Deems on September 3, 1939 and together they had two children. Walt retired from the United States Air Force after serving faithfully for 20 years and then went on to retire from the United States Civil Service where he worked in Civil Engineering. He was a member of several civic groups including COSNUG, a Chair Caning Club, the USAF Sergeants Association, Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans, T.R.E.A., the 8th Air Force Veterans Association, 44th Bomb Group known as the "Flying Eight Balls", Past Master of Masonic Lodge #76, Member of the Scottish Rite and a 20 year member of the Colorado Springs Senior Center. Walt is survived by his loving wife of 68 years; son Thomas (Eileen) Means; daughter Susan Silver; two grandchildren: Dawn and Rocky and four great grandchildren: Holly Daisy, Cody and Savannah. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 20, 2007 at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel of Roses. Private inurnment will follow at the Shrine of Remembrance Meditation Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Walt's name may be made to the charity of the giver choice.

Dear Mr Means. What to say. My last thought of you is when you walked up the street to see Michael. I know he was there saluting when you arrived in Heaven.
