Walter Samuel "Sam" Rouse

Walter Rouse Obituary

Walter Samuel "Sam" Rouse, 1955 to 2010, passed away after a valiant fight against cancer Tuesday May 11, 2010. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Sam graduated from University of Portland and Creighton Law School. He practiced law from 1981 to 2009, was a member of the Colorado State Bar, and CDLA. Sam was a man of many talents, a classic guitarist with near perfect pitch and great passion for music, a fine tennis and racquetball player, and a dedicated attorney. He worked pro bono for the Red Cross and was for many years a member of First Lutheran. He possessed astounding love and infinite generosity for those in his life. He can be considered the truest of friends and will be missed by many. He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Rouse, his sister Maureen Klein, his brother Tim Rouse, nieces and nephews, and many friends. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 17, at First Lutheran Church 1515 N. Cascade followed by a reception at McKenzie's Chophouse at 3:00 p.m.

My darling friend, you were so unique. We sang so many songs together in highschool and we laughed endlessly in Portland. You remain one of my true loves and they are few. We will sing again, I promise! God speed.

Gratitude is the first word that comes to my mind.He picked me up and gave me kindness and understanding after getting bounced off my HS
football team.We shared;a dorm room,music,beers,and calculus (OK
I didn't share that I mostly copied) for two years at UOP.
He was, and always will be a feeling of goodness inside me.
Thank you for sharing your soft, kind heart.

Sam thanks so much for your friendship and the times that will never be forgotten. I found some thoughts that fit Sam
Death a friend that alone can bring the peace his treasures cannot purchase, and remove the pain his physicians cannot cure. ~Mortimer Collins
It is the friends you can call up at 4 a.m. that matter. ~Marlene Dietrich
The friend within the man is that part of him which belongs to you and opens to you a door which never, perhaps, is opened to another. Such a friend is true, and all he says is true; and he loves you even if he hates you in other mansions of his heart. ~Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
But oh! the blessing it is to have a friend to whom one can speak fearlessly on any subject; with whom one's deepest as well as one's most foolish thoughts come out simply and safely. Oh, the comfort - the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person - having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away. ~Dinah Craik
All the best lad.

As the founding father of the "Rut Brothers" you will be missed by many. It was a pleasure to have known you most all of my life. You were an awesome friend. We laughed a lot, played fantastic music, chased lots of girls, and had strange and wonderful adventures with great friends.

As you often quipped... "You have no idea how close you came to be being interesting."

Amen my Brother, Rest in peace.
