Wayne Eugene Sell, 93, of Arvada, Colorado passed away Monday January 29, 2024 at the Rehabilitation Center at Sandlewood. He was born to the late Ray Francis and Esther Reed Sell on March 23,1930 in Bakersfield, California. He attended schools in Stockton, Kansas and was raised on a farm near there.
On New Year's Eve in 1950, he married Alice Louise Knight in Stockton, Kansas.
Wayne was employed as truck driver, hauling heavy equipment and materials to construction projects throughout the western United States for most of his career. He retired after hauling fill for runways at the Denver International Airport.
An avid outdoorsman, he loved camping, hunting, fishing and off-road travel. Wayne and Alice boondocked near Quartzite, Arizona during winter months for many years. Other interests included creating unique crafts and collecting antiques. He was a member of the NRA.
Wayne held membership in Colorado Springs Masonic Lodge No. 76 for 54 years. He belonged to Glen Eyrie and Fountain Valley #155 Order of the Eastern Star where he worked with their Rainbow Girls youth organization. He was a member of Al Kaly Shrine. On December 18, 2021, Wayne was recognized by the Grand Lodge of Colorado for his 50 years of service as a member and one year as Worshipful Master of Colorado Springs Lodge No. 76.
Survivors include Alice, his wife of 73 years, a sister-in-law Louise Sell of Aumsville, Oregon, his son Terry Sell and wife Barbara of Rock Springs, Wyoming, his daughter Barbara Suggs and husband Roger of Golden, Colorado; five grandchildren, Carrie Bradley and husband John of Arvada, Colorado, Amy Kammerzell and husband Dwaine of Dacula, Georgia, James Sell and wife Heather of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Mark Sell of Laramie, Wyoming, Andrew Sell and wife Kristine of Rock Springs, Wyoming and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Kenneth Sell and sister-in-law Betty, brother John Sell and sister-in-law Helen, brother Keith Sell, sister Betsy Cunningham and brother-in-law Harold. His brother Edward Sell passed away on February 7, 2024.
Following Cremation, a celebration of life will be conducted on Saturday, February 24th at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of God (Seventh Day), 9375 Gaylord St., Thornton, Colorado 80229. Dinner will follow. Interment will be conducted by Masonic Memorial Lodge on Monday, February 26th at 1:00 p.m. at Golden Cemetery, 755 Ulysses Street, Golden, Colorado 80401.
