Wayne E. Troyer "Bubba" age 92, passed away August 2, 2025, surrounded by family. He was born on January 15, 1933, in Milford, Nebraska, the youngest of nine. He was raised on a farm and graduated from Milford High School. Wayne attended Colorado College, Midland College, and served in the US Army. After his release from service in 1956, he moved to Colorado Springs and married the love of his life Doris Knuth on March 29, 1957. They were blessed with 2 children, Rick and Tami.
Wayne had a long and successful career working for Denver Equipment Company (DECO) his entire life. During the 41 years he worked there, the company was bought and sold numerous times and had different names (Joy Manufacturing, Svedala). At the time of his retirement, it was called Metso. He retired as the VP & General Manager and was responsible for operations in Colorado Springs, Birmingham, AL and the United Kingdom. He was highly thought of and respected by his subordinates, peers and coworkers. Upon his retirement, he had a consulting business for a few years to keep his mind occupied.
During his retirement years, Bubba, affectionately known by that name to his grandchildren, led a vibrant and fulfilling life filled with the activities he loved most. Never one to sit still for long, he maintained an active daily routine. His regular visits to the gym along with his passion for sports such as golf and tennis kept him healthy, agile and strong!
Bubba's adventurous spirit was perhaps most alive during his fishing trips to Canada. These excursions became cherished traditions, full of stories, laughter, and peaceful moments out on the water. Back at home, he relished every opportunity to attend family reunions, where he was always at the heart of the gathering - swapping stories, giving advice, and making sure everyone felt welcome and loved.
Among his greatest joys was the time spent with his grandchildren, whom he delighted in spoiling with treats, playful games, and warm, unconditional love. He shared with them not only his wisdom but also the simple pleasures of life - sunsets at the cabin, roasting marshmallows over a fire, and tales from his youth on the farm.
Wayne deeply treasured the family cabin, a quiet retreat nestled in nature, where he could relax, reflect, and reconnect with the land. He also made regular visits back to his roots in Nebraska, where he immersed himself in the rhythms of farm life and continued the tradition of spearing fish in the Blue River - a pastime that connected him to both his heritage and the serenity of the outdoors.
Through it all, Wayne lived his retirement with energy, purpose, and love, creating countless memories and touching the lives of everyone around him with his warmth, humor, and unshakable spirit.
Wayne had a strong faith and was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder, deacon, served on the Board of Trustees and ushered for over 40 years.
Wayne is survived by his wife Doris, children Rick (Polly) Troyer, Tami (Wally) Mark, grandchildren Josh (Stacie) Troyer, Castle Rock, CO, Matt Troyer, Travis (Jami) Mark, Stefanie (Matt) Pauley, St. Louis, MO, Joel Mark, Ft.
