Wilhelmina La-O. "Minnie" Broas

Wilhelmina Broas Obituary

October 6, 1965 - November 28, 2008
Wilhelmina "Minnie" La-O Broas, 43, passed away at her home in Colorado Springs on Friday, Nov 28, 2008, following a courageous 4 ½-year battle with cancer. Minnie was born October 6, 1965 in Manila, Philippines, second of four children of Vicente La-O, Sr. and Elvira Fabian. At age 18 she moved to the U.S. with her family. In 1984, she married Danilo "Dan" Broas, her husband of 24 years. With Dan in the US Air Force, they traveled extensively throughout Europe as a young couple. In Germany, Minnie finished her B.S. in Business Management in 1990 from the University of Maryland. In 1991, they settled in Colorado Springs and a year later, were blessed with a son Daniel. Minnie was a wonderful wife and mother. For Minnie, all else paled compared to truly knowing Christ from which sprung a different way of thinking and inevitably, a whole new way of living. Her greatest purpose was to glorify God in her life. It is widely attested that her faith, even in the midst of great pain and suffering, has been truly inspiring to many who knew her. In addition to her husband, Dan and her son, Daniel, Minnie is survived by her parents Vicente La-O, Sr. and Elvira Fabian, stepmother Lourdes Ilano; sister Margie LaO-Williams (Steve); and brothers Fernando La-O, and Vicente La-O, Jr. (Arlene); and five nephews and one niece. Memorial services for Minnie Broas will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, January 10, 2008 at Woodmen Valley Chapel, 290 E. Woodmen Rd., Colorado Springs, CO 80919. A Celebration of Life reception will follow.
